Doris and I spent our Sunday morning at the Apartheid museum. It was a lesson in South Africa's history of racism. I learned about how Apartheid was enacted by a small group of people in response to a chain of misfortunes brought on by the rapid growth of the city due to the gold rush.
The ticket on top was given to Doris, the ticket on the Bottom was given to me
The museum presented a somber mood right at the box office. Doris and received different tickets I received a "Whites" ticket and Doris a "Non-White" ticket we were than directed through different door. It made me very aware of the color of my skin, something I don't often think about. Doris and I were separated by metal grating, and the paths split off. As it turned out the paths came together quickly but that moment of separation elicited a strange mix of emotions, I felt anxious like I was being judged for my skin color, I am sure this was intended.
Doris and I went through different entrances and were separated
