South Africans call traffic lights "robots." I had heard it several times before I picked up on what was going on. "It's just past the third robot." "I always get stopped by this robot." "These damn robots are going to making me late" "I would have been here on time but I hit every robot on the way over"
What the hell are these people talking about!? Then I finally got it.
"You guys call traffic lights robots! I love it!"
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. It's actually hysterical. Here we are all the time being controlled by robots.
