Joe and I both got sick yesterday from ordering these calamari burgers. Beware of this month's special for Captain DoRego's.

Mauriello and I worked in a grand building that is a former women's prison. It's a historical site that receives many tourists throughout the year. However, regardless of its attention and army of security guards, no place is safe in Johannesburg.
We just found out yesterday from a co-worker that she was held-up at gun point while having a cigarette in the indoor courtyard over a year ago. He wanted her cell phone. Only when she thought the attacker was gone, did she start screaming for help. She got the attention of fifteen people who started a large commotion in the lobby. Turns out the attacker wasn't gone yet and was actually by the front door. He waved out his gun and started shooting everywhere. The crowd ducked down and started shuffling away from the front door. Fortunately, no was was hurt. The guy is known to prawl around that area but has never been caught.
After that story, Joe and I needed to visit the market (regardless of the dark) because we ran out of groceries. Unlike the previous times, we left our cell phones at home.
No place is safe in Johannesburg.
